FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is vinyl wrap?
A wrap is a large vinyl graphic or decal. It is applied directly over the original paint of the vehicle. The application of the wrap allows you to change the vehicles appearance in a very short period of time and in turn allows you to remove the wrap, returning the vehicle back to its original condition if necessary.
Will a vehicle wrap damage my paint?
No. Vehicle wraps will not damage factory paint jobs. Wrap films are relatively thick, which actually helps to protect your paint. If your vehicle has chipping paint a wrap may pull the chipping paint if removed improperly. It is best to have your wrap professionally removed.
How can I justify the cost of a vehicle wrap?
If you are using your vehicle wrap to improve the appearance of your vehicle, digitally printed vehicle wraps simply cannot be duplicated by more traditional methods like paint or airbrushing. If you are using your vehicle wrap as signage, there is no more cost-effective advertising method available. It has been proven that the cost per impression (CPI) of vehicles wraps is less than other forms of advertising such as billboards, television, radio, and yellow pages.
How long will the wrap stay on my vehicle?
You can leave a wrap on between three to seven years. We warranty our work for 18 months provided that the wrap was properly taken care of. We cannot warranty wraps on small curved channels, wraps on plastic, silicone, rubber areas or on chrome as the material is not meant for these surfaces. We stand behind all of our work so if there are any issues we will give you our full attention.
Do you cut on my car’s paint?
We know you love your car, and we wouldn’t do anything to hurt it. Our gifted installers employ a special technique called “BLADEAWAY” to protect your paint. We also use a product called Knifeless Tape, which allows our installers to make precise edges on the painted surface without the use of a blade. Although the combination of these techniques allow for the most intricate trimming with no harm, there are some spots that can only be done correctly using a knife. Our installer's precision and dexterity allow them to never physically touch the knife to the car paint.
How long does it take to wrap my car?
We prioritize quality over speed. Installation times vary according to the complexity of the project, but for a full wrap generally takes between 2-3 days. Smaller jobs like chrome deletes, roofs, hoods, etc. typically take just a few hours to complete. Due to the nature of the wrap products, we like to build in 24 hours minimum for the materials to set which allows us to ensure the highest quality when you pick up your vehicle.
What are the benefits of a wrap?
Does NOT devalue the resell value of your car like a paint job does, if anything it will help fight against depreciation.
Vinyl car wraps protect your OEM paint and are 100% removable.
Warranties and/or lease agreements remain valid. Painting can void warranties, increase the cost of insurance, and is not even an option with a lease
Cost for a vinyl vehicle wrap is considerably less than a comparable paint job.
Vinyl car wraps wear as well as, or better than paint – when properly cared for. Think of it like a skin for your laptop or a silicon cover for your phone. The vinyl can take a beating protecting the vehicle’s paint underneath.
Vinyl car wraps come in any color, even custom, and can have a matte, semi-gloss, gloss, brushed steel, carbon fiber, metallic flake, matte metallic, chrome and even leather-like finishes.
Expensive, color-matching paint fees are unnecessary for scratches or accident vehicles; just re-wrap the section that needs repair.
It’s difficult to tell it’s not paint. Due to our wrapping technique, it literally looks like it was sprayed on.
Affordably customize parts of your car. You don’t have to wrap your entire car; just your hood, roof, mirrors, stripes, etc.
Matte paint jobs can be brittle, chip easily and require very specific care regiments while matte vinyls are more durable and harder to scratch. In the event that repairs are needed, the part that was damaged can be easily replaced, providing a perfect match.
Hides dings or scratches and “freshens” the look of your vehicle.
TURN HEADSHow do I take care of my wrapped vehicle?
Hand Car Wash – When it’s time to clean your wrapped car, we recommend hand washing with quality automotive cleaning products. You can treat your wrap like paint, but AVOID using compounds and swirl/scratch removers. Waterless Car Wash – We also recommend using a product like CroftgateUSA’s WrapCare Waterless Wash to maintain your car between major washes. We use Aquanil on our client’s vehicles after every wrap to give your vehicle a flawless finish. In addition to cleaning the surface, Aquanil also protects your wrap. Microfiber Towels are recommended to gently and safely apply cleaners and remove it. This way, chances of causing micro-scratches on the top coat, or interior surfaces are avoided.
We highly recommend using microfiber towels for the application and removal of cleaning products. Rotate your towel frequently to reveal a clean side. Keep an extra microfiber towel lying around for the unexpected shine up!
- Fold each Microfiber towels in half twice before use – This effectively gives you 8 clean pads to carry out your cleaning operation.
- Spray the first microfiber towel with Aquanil waterless car wash to pre-wet, and then lightly spray the surface of the vehicle to be cleaned. Clean only one section of the car at a time.
- Wipe over the section of the vehicles surface with the micro fiber towel pre-sprayed with Aquanil. Any motion circular or linear will work just fine to apply Aquanil.
- Once you’ve applied the Aquanil and gently covered the section of the vehicle simply grab a clean microfiber towel and gently buff off leaving a brilliant long lasting luster.
- Wash Regularly – Wash whenever the car appears dirty. Contaminants allowed to remain on the vehicle wrap may be more difficult to remove during cleaning.Rinse off as much dirt and grit as possible with a spray of water.
- Use a wet, non-abrasive detergent such as 3M™ Car Wash Soap 39000, Meguiar’s NXT Generation® Car Wash or Deep Crystal® Car Wash and a soft, clean cloth or sponge.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water. To reduce water spotting, immediately use a silicone squeegee to remove water and finish with a clean microfiber cloth. Note, squeegees should ONLY be used on CLEAN surfaces.
- Automated Car Washes – Brush-type car washes are not recommended as they can scratch the film, cause edges to lift or chip, and dull the film’s appearance. Brushless car washes are acceptable. Pressure Washing – We swear by Chemical Guys Products and use the Foam Cannon on all of our cars. Just follow these guidelines when power washing so that you do not damage the wrap, you'll find that they are very similar to power washing a painted car.
- Ensure the water pressure is kept below 2000 psi (14 MPa).
- Keep water temperature below 80°C (180°F).
- Use a spray nozzle with a 40 degree wide angle spray pattern.
- Keep the nozzle at least 1 foot (300 mm) away from and perpendicular (at 90 degrees) to the graphic.
- Important Note! Holding the nozzle of a pressure washer at an angle to the graphic may lift the edges of the film.
- Difficult Contaminants – Soften difficult contaminants such as bug splatter, bird droppings, tree sap and similar contaminants by soaking them for several minutes with very hot, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. If further cleaning is needed, test one of these products in an inconspicuous area to ensure no damage to the wrap film: Meguiar’s Gold Class™ Bug and Tar Remover or 3M™ Citrus Base Cleaner. Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) (two parts IPA to 1 part water) or denatured alcohol may also help. Spot clean the contaminants. Do not use rough scrubbing, dirty or abrasive tools, which will scratch the film. Wash and rinse off all residue immediately. Fuel Spills – Wipe off immediately to avoid degrading the dip or vinyl and adhesive. Then wash, rinse and dry as soon as possible. Film Restoration – The following restoration recommendations will help keep your vehicle wraps looking their best.Avoid automated car washes when possible
- Do not use any abrasive polishes or cutting compounds
- Do not use any polishing or wax products on matte or textured films
- If there is wax or wax residue on the surface, remove with an all-purpose cleaner
- Before using cleaning products, always test and approve in an inconspicuous area
